Sell or Donate Your Books
Aviary Books is always looking for interesting books that compliment our inventory. Please take a look at our website or visit the shop to get a sense of what we offer. If you are unsure if your collection is appropriate for us, please reach out!
We take pride in the quality of our books and therefore cannot accept books with mold, water damage, broken spines, insect damage, smoke damage, excessive annotations, or highlighting.
Pricing
The prices we offer for most books are calculated as a percentage of their resale value, depending on condition and current demand. Quotes are only given for books that we are able to see in person.
Rare, collectible, and signed items may be quoted at higher rates depending on factors that are unique to the item.
Offers may be made in cash, or in store credit for 50% more. Store credit does not expire and is not transferrable.
Donations
Donations of any size are accepted, however the same condition guidelines apply.
Walk-Ins
If you have up to one or two small boxes, please feel free to bring them in for evaluation during regular shop hours. If you have more than that but not quite enough for a house call, please contact us to make an appointment.
House Calls
For larger collections (a whole bookcase or more), we make house calls! When getting in touch, please have the following information handy:
- size of the collection (linear feet, number of books, number of shelves/bookcases, number of boxes, etc. are all useful benchmarks)
- content (genre, topic, author, etc.)
- location of the collection
- clear photos in which the spines and/or covers are visible are especially helpful
Please note that we are usually booked out several weeks or more for house calls, so plan accordingly.
